March Gifted Gorgeousness

Gifted Gorgeousness is the brilliant idea of Jo to get stitchers to use those things in our stash that have been gifted to us or that we are giving as a gift but we can use a shoehorn as well if we feel like it (and for once I am)

First is the little brooch I made for my Mum for Mother's Day a couple of weeks ago.
Mum loves anything to do with lizards and I've had the kit for this in my stash for a couple of years now just waiting for me to get round to making it for her.

Beaded Gecko brooch

Next is my start on Spring and it's where my shoe horn comes into play :)
I gifted myself the start on it for Mothers Day this year and if memory serves the pattern is from the Gift of Stitching

TUSAL time

Yes folks it time once again to post piccies of rubbish on our blogs and it will come as no surprise to you all that I'm late again this month!

This will take you to this months link up page so you can go and see far better piccies of rubbish than mine

As ever first up is my stitching orts and I've added ones from a model, my bears, a pink ribbon, Mum's Mothers Day gift and my travel project

And my beading orts
I did add some black from a star early in the month then I started on the eggs and all you can see is white

Did you know that if you google TUSAL you get all sorts of things come up but this isn't one of them!
Top of the list is a biological soil fungicide and there is also a youth club in Nepal

Egg number 2 is finished

It took me a while to decide on the dark purple for this egg but I got there in the end and I think it turned out really well

Top half of the egg

Bottom half of the egg

And joined together this time with my scissors for scale

My egg is done

I finished the top half of the egg on Friday morning

And joined it to the bottom half to complete the egg

Hopefully my hand will give you an idea of the size of it

The medium sized egg is now underway

Lots of pretty flowers

Last Sunday was as you know Mothers Day here in the UK and Mel arranged for some flowers to be delivered for me.
Unfortunately Royal Mail let her down and they didn't arrive on Saturday as arranged :(  it was Tuesday before I got them because RM tried to deliver them when I wasn't home and didn't bother to try and leave them with my lovely neighbour.

They came with a cardboard vase to put them in (it's lined with a bag don't panic!) which I think is a fantastic idea

I spent some time with Mel on Monday and she felt bad that I hadn't had my flowers so she gave me these as well :)

It will be an egg, promise

Katie Dean went and did it again and brought out a pattern that I just could not resist esp. when I got an email offering me a discount on it!
After seeing the amounts needed I had a look to see what I had that I could possibly use and made a start, rather unsurprisingly it's purple.

First you make a few of these

and join them together

then you do rows of peyote, add an inner wall and hey presto you have half an egg

The other half of the egg is well under way so wander back in a day or two and it should be done

Meet Alfie

At long last I can share little Alfie with you all.

Back in December when I did my Christmas gifts posts I mentioned that I'd had a hiccup with Mel's one and it wasn't finished in time.
He was handed over to her and I explained the problems and that I needed to have him back to finish him which Mel did and he was done a few days later.

I finally got to hand him over to Mel yesterday!  Although she lives the closest of the 2 girls we just haven't managed to get together since Christmas until then.
Mel knew he was finished and had seen pics of him and even picked his name and I felt I couldn't post here until he went to his new home.

Alfie is the small turtle box from Julia Pretl and I used a pattern shared to members of Seed Beads and more on Facebook for his head

I knitted!

Towards the end of last year I started going to the local library on a Thursday afternoon for a craft group.  Most of them are knitters but I take along my beading however early in Jan we had a visitor from a localish charity (whose name escapes me) that makes tweedle muffs, bags etc for dementia patients.   They had recently come up with an idea for a canula sleeve to help stop those with dementia pulling them out all the time and where asking for people to knit them.

So me with my limited knitting skills decided that even I could manage one so I did with the aid of a book for more than the basic stitches.

The inside of it is done in plain stocking or garter stitch in whatever colour you like I used a white and a mutli colour and did garter stitch

Then came the outside and apart from moss stitch, rib and basic stitches I can't remember what I did!

I hate stitching knitting together with a passion (one reason I don't really do anything other than socks) so one of the other group members is going to do that bit for me on this one and any others I manage to produce.
I did however make a slight boo boo with it in that it's supposed to be in one long piece not 2 like mine is but that can be fixed :)

Weekend progress

Well I said I wanted to reach the left hand edge of the bears during Feb and I did :) so I'm a happy bunny.

There won't be any progress to report from this weekend because I have plans and there is a chance there won't be any for a couple of weeks :( one of the models has a fairly tight deadline so I might have to put it aside for a couple of weeks
