Weekend Progress

Another weekend is done and more progress was made on Legends.
I didn't quite manage to finish the stitching on the dragon ready to start the Backstitch but a few hours this next weekend will see to that, if I hadn't spent the first few hours doing some of the backstitch on the border I would of done it

And part 5 of Mary's Sampler has been added

Firefly Fairies

It's been a good few weeks since I last shared progress on Firefly Fairies and it's about time I fixed that!
It's been going so much faster since I finished the green one

Chester Zoo - Pic heavy

As I said last was Mel's birthday and she wanted to spend the day at the zoo so off we all went.
In the rain to say we got wet is putting it mildly and everyone put in a request that if she wants to do the same thing next year she either organises good weather or has an alternative.
Despite the rain we all enjoyed it tho and I'll leave you with some of the pics I took.

Thee keepers were amused that these two had just their heads stuck out the door

but the baby was stood in the rain, the adults had the right idea

I love this penguin pic

They have a display in one room and this is a life size Emperor Penguin. much bigger than I thought it'd be

Teejay loves penguins so gave it a kiss

And a bit later on he decided to try and poke Mel in  the nose

If you look close you can just make out the head and paw of a Sumatran Tiger that's all anyone got to see he was staying inside out of the rain

And lastly they have some huge robotic bugs until Nov 3 and this is my favourite

IHSW Weekend progress

I remembered to sign up for IHSW again this month!

I won't post a before pic because as normal it's the same as my after pic from last weekend and if your a regular reader chances are you remember what it looks like and if your new it's in the post below.

It's looks even more like a Dragon now :)

And Mary's Sampler although part 4 was stitched this afternoon

Updates

I'm late with these this week but I have a good reason......

I'm really pleased with how much I got done on Legends over the weekend, fingers crossed I do as well this weekend.

I added my sheep to Mary's Sampler

Here's my good reason :)
Teejay and his Mum have been here to help Mel celebrate her birthday yesterday at Chester Zoo

Rosie pictures

Just because I can :)

She's taken over a box that was emptied over the weekend, I haven't had the heart to take it off her yet

Recently she's taken to watching the TV!
She rarely watch's the wildlife but just to prove me wrong here she is watching the private life of plants on Sunday which happened to have bugs in it.
She does like a good murder mystery like Midsommer Murders but she seems esp. fond of Columbo!

And lastly while going through my camera to see what's still on it I found another one of her when she had a duvet day earlier this year

Weekend progress

First is my progress on Legends, I wasn't in the mood to spend all weekend on the backstitch so I started on the best bit instead, the Dragon.

Monday I started on Mary's Sampler, the 9 part free Christmas Sampler available on Plum Street Samplers blog
I'm using a lovely overdyed green fabric that I bought in an whoops pack from Country Stitch way back in 2004 and good old DMC.
I wasn't keen on Mary and Joseph having such dark and drab outfits so I switched to 902 and I'm much happier with it

And a couple of days ago I went to water my toms and one is turning red :)

Another box

While I was sick I had a call off my WI president who was ringing to make sure I was OK and she reminded me about the competition we have in October.   Every year at the Autumn group meeting the WI's in the area hold a competition and it's always for a craft item based around a theme.  This year the theme was black and white but I had no idea about it as I've not been to meetings all summer with bowling.
I did think about entering something I'd made in the past but in the end decided that in the 3 weeks I had I could make something and after a little thought I went with a box.
I would of liked to make the Pagoda in Little Bead Boxes but it's fairly complicated and I didn't want to put myself under pressure while recovering so in the end I went the triangle box that I've made before from the same book by Julia Pretl

It's not really clear in the pics that I used 2 different blacks, one matt and one shiny

Mine wasn't the project picked by the institute to go through to the Autumn meeting but I'm still happy with my box

TUSAL Time

It's time to post rubbish again!

I've added orts from Firefly Fairies, Legends of the Dragons, Santa's village, Dear Jane quilt (that I haven't posted about even tho I started it a month ago!!) and a project I can't tell you about even tho I finished it as it's a Christmas gift for one of my girls and they both read my blog.
And of course lots of Nymo, KO and even some fireline from beading

If you still don't know what the TUSAL is all about then

2, Tell me what plant you live on :)

Late progress

Better late than never it's my progress on Legends from last weekend.

September progress & October goals

For September I said

Get one Fairy stitched as far as only needing the beads  No, not done but I did take a week off FF while I was sick
Finish Mrs Claus' Cookie Shop  Done
Start and finish Santa's Stocking Store  Not quite, I still have the vine bit to finish
Finish Majesty and start Wisdom on Legends  Majesty is finished and the border round Wisdom needs the back stitch finishing so kinda done this one

For October I'd like to
Finish the Stocking Store and make decent progress on Reindeer Stables but finishing it would be better
Finish Wisdom and so in turn finish Legends

I stitched for 85 hours 1 minute in September which is up on previous months but given that for most of the month I was sick and not able to do much at all without being able to breathe it's no surprise really.
I had 4 new starts and 2 finishes, one of which I can't share until after Christmas as it's a gift for one of my Daughters and they both read my blog.  I also had one day of no stitching and that was the day I spent the entire evening in A&E.

Current PHD total = 33 :(
