Yet another new start

How I'm ever going to get my number os WIP's down is beyond me, I keep starting new ones! This time it's LHN My Needle's Work
I've got no idea what the fabric is apart from it's cream, 32 count and came out of my stash (at least that's one of this year's goals getting worked on!)

Oh and by any chance did someone see where I put my 6" Q snaps???? I can't find them anywhere and could do with them so I can work on at least 2 of those *cough cough* 49 *cough* WIP's and get them finished next month

Bigger Stash update

This year's birthday start and for once I'm in with a chance of finishing it in the same year :)

That R seemed to take ever more and a day to do, no matter how much I worked on it it just didn't seem to get anywhere so I started switching with the Bleesed Jess underneath and it went so much quicker

In other news, my Dad hurt his knee going upstairs last night and I took him to have it checked out today, turns out that he's pulled the ligaments around it so it looks like my time off looking after Mum is at an end and I'll have 2 invalids to cope with instead of one

St Basil's update

I worked on it over the weekend and made a little progress, not huge amounts but enough to keep me quiet :)

Oh remember that simple blood test I had to go for a little while back? Well they didn't do something they should have or something went wrong and I got called back for it!

UFO RR

Last one of this round, a little later than it should be. It belongs to Annette it's one of the Mill Hill Buttons & Beads Winter Range, Christmas Village.

As it arrived

And as it leaves

What you can't really tell from the pic is that a fair bit of what I've done is the beading part of it so it doesn't really look like I've put many hours in on it but I have! I'm off to the PO with in the morning, fingers crossed Annette's happy with the progress I've made

This morning the postman brought me this from Jen for the TW Celtic Bookmark exchange over on the Rotation BB, she got it spot on for colours :) and I love it
Here's a much better pic of the colours Jen used, the bobbins you can see under it in the pic above are the rest of the skeins she used along with a skein of a limited edition of Gloriana (I didn't even know they exisisted!)

GCSE Results

For those of you outside of the UK today is the day that the results come out for year 11 High school students, the next step of education is based on these grades and each course has different requirements. Mel needed 4 C's for the course she wants to do starting in September.
We've not been back very long from getting those results and she has 4 B's, 6 C's and a D but given that she expected to fail the subject that one's for she's quite pleased with it.

Congratulations Mel

Who are you & where are you from?

I've seen this on a few blogs this evening but I've got it on permanant loan from Sharon

1. Comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! And if we’ve never met in real life, leave me a comment of your favorite post I wrote and why it was your favorite.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually really funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you.

3. Do you read my posts from a reader, blogroll or is this your first visit? Thanks for playing

Dragonheart Framed

I finished the bookmark for the exchange but still can't share a pic as it's not arrived at it's new home yet. So I'm going to start sharing pics of framed projects as they make it on to the wall's here.
First up is Black Swan's Dragonheart, I finished this last June as one of my goals for 2007 after being a WIP since 22 August 1999 (I remember the day very well, it was a Sunday and I was off work sick with Laringitus and so feeling a little sorry for myself, I started it to cheer myself up).

My UFO has come home and a not so simple blood test

On Sunday at Bakewell I helped out Kate with her Sparklies stand and amongst the visitors during the day was Allie and she brought my UFO from the RR we've been doing with her and handed her over in person, I'm over the moon with the progress made on her.

Angel of the Morning as she left me

And as she came home

I've not made my mind up yet if she'll go out on the next round that's due to start next month or not, I have a few candidates for it but none are screaming out to be sent as yet.

Yesterday I went to see the Diabetic specialist at the Imfimmary not because I needed to but because my GP attended a lecture he gave on MODY people and she thought that it's possable I'm one because I developed it at the age of 31 and my Dad, his Sister, their Mum and her sister all have/had it. I saw one of his minions who was an overseas Doc (no objection there but I wish his english was better it would of made life easier) he asked loads of questions and at the end of it said that he's not convinced I am but he'll send off my blood for the tests anyway and that's where the fun started. He gave me 3 forms for blood telling me that they were all fasting ones so I'd have to go back for them in a few days along with a card for a container in which I have to collect all my samples for 24 hours. He didn't explain any of it very well and when I asked a question to claify something he still didn't make it clear, so I left none the wiser as to what I was supposed to do. Off I go to the blood bods to get my container which thankfully comes with an instrustion sheet but while the lady was getting it or me I noticed that one of the boxes he'd ticked was for a non fasting test so I asked her about it and said that shouldn't I be getting this one today, she takes my form and we go to the blood room. She starts looking at it and said that something was wrong as the doc had ticked the box for PSA which is for a bit of anatomy that I don't have being a female of the species! On top of that they are completely confused about one of the things he's written on it so she goes off to check with him, when she comes back she tells me that he meant to tick throyd (sp?) and that yes they can do 2 lots of the bloods there and then. Then she has to get out her little book because she's not seen one of the tests before and nor has the other blood bod, a phone call to the main hospital later and it turns out that they can't do it there as the sample has to be frozen and they don't have the facillities to do it. A second phone call to main hospital follows to book an appointment to have my blood taken today (you can't just turn up there unless it's from an out patient clinc plus it's a 40 mile round trip) and instuctions to take the other form with me so they can check it there to tell me if I can have it done locally or not.

Lunch time today I set off and for once the traffic is kind to me and I make good time, the car park is half empty so parking is no problem, I get my ticket and walk over to the blood bods there only to find no one on reception so I ask at the one opposite about it and a guy goes and talks to them for me, he comes out and tell's me that as soon as they are done with the one that's in I'm in. 7 viles later I'm done and I have another 5 viles for the other test and I manage to get out of the hospital in under 20 mins (more than that and you have to pay for parking) and I'm back home in a little over an hour.

I'll never think a blood test is a simple thing again after that!

I have been stitching

But I just can't share it just yet because it's for the TW Celtic Bookmark on the rotation BB so until I do have something to share here's an update on Fantasy Sampler

Mel is home from camp now, she's covered in bruise's in her legs and has a real good one on her arm that she poked and said 'It hurts when I poke it' to which she got the obvious answer of 'Don't poke it then!' While there she was made a 4*and platoon Sargent, got a skilled pass at Skill at arms, got within 44mm of the centre with shooting and got put on the team and lastly was most improved cadet. To say I'm a proud Mum doesn't even come close

I have flowers

When I did the tour of the house in this post there was a pic of the back yard and down the right hand side you can see a mass of green, well that's all been pulled out now as almost all of it was weeds but I did come across a couple of gems.
This is one of two patches of beautiful delicate looking yellow poppy's (at least I think their poppy's) and judging by the shape of the leaves I've got a couple of other feeders off it

And then there's a rose bush, I knew that was there but there was nothing on it apart from a few rose hips. Yesterday morning I noticed these, aren't they beautiful. I'm not normally a rose person but I do like this one, just to the left of this is another branch and when I took this there was one bud ready to open (which it did this morning) and around another 6 that will soon be putting in an appearance

I still need to tidy the border up a little it's got alot of bits of rubble and rubbish on it before I can really do anything else with it although I do plan on getting some Daffodil bulbs ready for next year, guess I'd better learn how to garden fairly soon to take care of them because up until now I've only had a hanging basket to cope with

St Basil's

As part of my quest to have less than 30 WIPs by the end of the year (yeah like that's going to happen!) I've pulled St Basils out of resting and slapped it on the scanner before I put a stitch in which I'll be doing as soon as I get off the puter

I should be working on my TW Celtic Bookmark for the exchange on the Rotation BB but I worked on it all day yesterday and I really can't face it today so I'm having a day off beside's years ago when I used to do alot of model stitching I always had Sunday's off to work on my own stuff and that's kinda the same thing
