TW #11

I stitched mine from JCS 2000 ornie issue but it's now available as a freebie

I started it on my birthday in 2002 (and in fact I think it may be the first year I started having a birthday start) and finished it 5 days later on May 21.

I have plenty more TW's to show you but they can wait for NaBloPoMo 2011.

Private Biscornu exchange

A couple of months ago Blu posted and asked if anyone wanted to do a biscornu exchange with her and as it's one of my favourite ways to finish stitching (although I rarely do them) I jumped at the chance.
A date was set for sending and the hunt began on my end (I was late in sending so sent along a bride for forgivness as well but don't tell Blu because it's not got there yet)

A few days ago a box arrived and in amongst the tissue paper was this

which turned into this

which turned into this

which revealed this

and then this

I'm completely gobsmacked by it and at a total loss for words to express just how much I love it

Ornament Exchange #1 again

As promised yesterday here's the ornament I sent out for the exchange over on Cross Stitch Crazy.

It's called Let It Snow-man from The Prairie Schooler and you can find it in 1999 JCS Ornie issue

Ornament Exchange #1

I took part in an ornament exchange over on Cross Stitch Crazy and this morning this beauty arrived from Kristina. I stitched this a couple of years ago for an exchange and have been promising myself that I'd do it again for my tree but now I don't have to :)

Kristina also included some lovely little felt ornaments and a fab card

The one I sent out has also arrived so I'll share that tomorrow.

Today's offering is the Grapes ornament from the now discontinued Cloisonne Christmas ornaments leftlet. I have no idea if I'll ever get round to stitching the other 5

It's a star

I did yet another beading class yesterday, this one for 3D stars.
The tutor hoped that by the end of the day we'd all have 2 piece's done so we could stitch them together but most had 3 or 4 done and then there was the one that put her head down got on with the project and didn't do much chatting. She had all 5 pieces done and 4 of them stitched together but ran out of time to attach it. I did it this morning instead.

I've made a start on number 2 so will hopefully be ready to share in a day or so

Santa Finish

Before heading to Llandudno for the day I finished putting my Mantle Santa together.
I'm really pleased with the way he's turned out and I'm glad I did the snowman first because of the lessons I learnt putting him together I made a much better job of Santa.

Q&A

Yesterday Andie was a little bored and did a bit of Q&A session with herself so I thought I'd play along.

1. What are you stitching at the moment? Ornaments, I need to have 12 (not the 11 I thought I needed last week) by Dec 2 and I've got 5 of them stitched and only 2 of those made up

2. How many finishes have you had this year? Small? Medium? Large? Extra Large? In total so far I've had the grand total of 40 finishes, most have been small to medium

3. Do you think you will finish any more in the next month and a half before the end of the year? Not counting the ornies I need to get done I plan on getting ABC Christmas done

4. If you could buy 1 thing for yourself what would it be? (Doesn't have to be stitching) My own copy of The Hobbit, I lost mine years ago and have always borrowed it from the library ever since

5. What is the best thing you have ever stitched? Tough one! But I think I'm going to go with Dragonheart

6. Do you like making lists? If a weekly shopping list and monthly goals count then yes

7. Do you stitch in rotation (how does it work?) or OAAT? Yep I do. I pick out the projects I want to work on over the next 6 months and work on them in whatever order grabs me but I can't work on a project again until I've worked on them all. Of course that goes out the window at this time of year when I feel the need to sign up for ornament exchanges and don't have any spare ones

8. What is the next thing you plan to stitch? More ornaments

9. What is your fave ONS? And why? I rarely order anything form an ONS and when I do it's usually Sewandso, they are fast, freindly and one of the few in the UK

10. Do you have a stitching chair? I have a 2 setter sofa all to myself

11. Do your children/pets get into your stitching things? Mel never bothers with my stitching stuff unless I ask her to get me something (or as she's just pointed out she's drunk and needs to get to the fuse box along side Sheena) but I do have 2 cats that both think that the floss dangling at the back of my stitching is a really good toy

12. Do you participate in any stitching forums? Yes I'm a member of the TWBB, Rotation board, The Wagon, CrossStitchCrazy and Stitch and Stash

Santa update

I've made a start on assembling my Santa Mantle sitter, he looks somewhat odd right now but all will become clear.
Fingers crossed I'll get him finished over the weekend

TW # 7

This one is Hearts and Squares from Cross Stitch Monthly January 1989.
I finished it 13 Jan 2002

Ornie finishing has started

Since I need to have 11 of these done by Dec 2nd and I still have some to stitch I thought I'd better make a start on finishing them over the weekend

TW #6

This is Child's Heart from JCS June 1990.
The original has some wording underneath but I wasn't very keen on it when I stitched it back in 2002 so left it off I did however make the fabric big enough to be able to turn it into a birth sampler if the need ever arose. Oh and he didn't have an eye but Mel insisted I give him one so he could see

Today's is Beginners Whitework Ornament freebie.
Stitched back in 2002 it was my first finish of the year and I used White Cashel and Caron Waterlily In Tahiti

TW #4

Today's offering is Greetings from JCS June 1988.
I stitched it back in 2001 and it was my last finish for the year.

It does have another colour way and I keep telling myself that one day I'll get round to doing that one as well

Bits and piece's

Remember back in July Berit unfortunately had to restitch her Arbour Day exchange to me because the original one went missing?
Well a couple of weeks ago I got one of those sorry it's been opened packages off Royal Mail with a somewhat mangled envelope in it along with a letter telling me that on March 17th at 9.17am a theft took place from my postman while he was doing his round!!!
The letter also says that action is being taken against an individual involved so I'm hoping that the lowlife gets exactly what they deserve.
Anyway a few days ago Berit posted pics of the original exchange and I have to say it's gorgeous and makes me even more annoyed with the little ****

Kristin asked if my necklace was done from a pattern and the answer is yes it's from Crystal Brilliance

I am stitching but I can't share just yet as one if for a private exchange and the other an ornament exchange so it's going to be a while yet before I can share either of them.
But I may have a beading finish to show early next week as work continues on the Santa mantle sitter and I'm almost done with his back now.

TW #3

Still playing catch up on NaBloPoMo :(

Today's TW is Welcome (no surprise there!). I stitched this back in 2001 and it's from Cross Stitch Monthly September 1988

TUSAL

I told you I'd be back with it today :)

So this month we have orts from ABC Christmas, Mary Wigham, 2 different UFO RR's, Spiderman, Noel Ornie, Caleb's birth sampler, a private exchange I'm currently working on and several colours of KO thread as well as some Fireline.

And to make things even better my puter came home today although it remains to be seen how long it'll last this time

TW #2

I know I said I'd be back today with my TUSAL pic but the batteries in my camera died when I tried to take it earlier and I had to wait till I went to town this afternoon to get more so I will be here with it tomorrow.

Until then I'll leave you with my second TW finish, Geometric from JCS June 1988 which I stitched way back in 2001.

I'm sorry it's such a bad pic but back in 2001 I only had a scanner and it wasn't a really good one. One day I'll get round to doing a better pic of it but you'll get a better idea of how it look in a while because there's another one to come

Beading finish

Remember back in September I told you about the necklace I was working on?
Well I finished it earlier in the week and wore it at the Ladies bowls league meal on Tuesday night were it was much admired

I enjoyed making and love the finished piece but can't see me making another one anytime soon.

I'll be back tomorrow with my TUSAL post that should of been done yesterday

October finishes

For some reason I never got round to posting my finished Spiderman square for SOLAK.
I think he's turned out well but all that red was a little boring even although it did make a nice change after working with black all day as I worked on the dragon

And my ornament for October.
Freebie from Gazette94 and the monthly challenge on Stitch and Stash. I finished mine as a simple hanging pillow and used the fabric in the background as the backing.
I do know where's it's going but I'm not letting on

NaBloPoMo

I know I'm late in starting but my puter is down again so I'm back on Mel's once more for a little while, it's off being fixed so hopefully I'll be back up and running by the middle of the month.
With being a few days behind there will be a few double posts while I get caught up so please bear with me.
This time last year I threatened you all with posting a finished TW every day and I will do just that on the days I have nothing else to post about (or I'm doing a double post like today)

This is the first TW I ever completed way back in 2001. I stitched him for an exchange and will restitch him one day along with the other 2 in the set.
