I made an almost sphere

I started this project last year after digging out the book  that my parents gave me for my 40th birthday.
I t took me a while to decide which one to make and then to settle on colours but I got there in the end.
And then once I hit the half way point I got fed up of making the small pieces and even more fed up of joining them together!
A couple of months ago the mood struck me to work on a project that wasn't far off done and this one won

I have the beads for the sphere in a sphere in a sphere but don't know if I'll ever get round to doing it after this one!

In case your wondering why it's an almost sphere, it's not as round as it should be but I'm don't care :)

April Gifted Gorgeousness

Gifted Gorgeousness is the brilliant idea of Jo to encourge stitchers to use those items in our stash that we have been gifted or those things we stitch that will be a gift.

I only have one bit of stitching that counts this month and here it is.
This is Christmas Delights an old freebie from The Cat's Whiskers stitched for the RR I was taking part in.   I was the last person to to work on this one with a theme of pink/grey so as you can see I used a Needle Necessities thread in pink.   3 times I counted and checked my placement and I still got it wrong :(

And I just realized that I could also included a pic of my completed RR as well now it's home but as yet I've not got round to taking a pic of it :(

I'm a winner :)

I went to a bead fair today at Haydock race course organised by Beads up North with Mum.  We didn't actually decide to go until mid morning so didn't arrive until about 1.30.
Once you've paid your entrance fee there is always a table with a free prize draw to win some goodies donated by the exhibitors so as I have done every bead fair I've gone to for the last 8 or so years I entered and thought nothing more of it.
Because we arrived late in the day (much easier to get around if you do BTW) and Mum was on her scooter it took us longer to get round than normal (stopping for a coffee and to chat to friends and stallholders as well added in) we were one of the last to leave when it closed.   We both stopped for a call of nature before the trip home and while I waited for Mum one of the girls asked me if I was Lindsay so I said yes, Lindsay L*****, yes would you like to see my driving license :)   OOOOO you've won one of the hampers.  Cue me going your kidding me, I don't win these things!
The only reason she thought I was me is because a couple of years ago they had a charity competition to string beads and I won it.

If you follow the link above there is a pic of my ugly mug :) along with Gordon Halfpenny and my little hamper of goodies but here are the detailed ones :) (with links to the generous exhibitors, please do go and check out their wares)

The Hamper

A CD from The Jacobeadery

Multipliers from CJBeaders

A lovely assortment from Silver Moon Beads

My pic really doesn't do justice the colour of the heart from Bargain Accessories 123

Swarovski Hearts from Tilly's Bead Box

More hearts from Gemstone Boutique

Pearl necklace and snake charm from Mr Bead

Watch face (I already have an idea for this) from Silvar Design

And lastly something to refresh after a hard days bead shopping.
I'm guessing this is from Halfpenneys because there's no clue on it and there was one in the other basket as well

Seahorse box finish

I've had the pattern for this for time now and finally got round to starting it on Mothers day.
I was happy with the called for background colour to me it was a bit wishy washy so after some fiddling about and posting on facebook for opinions I settled on this darker green and I have to say I'm really, really happy with the result.

You can find the pattern on Julia Pretl's site and in fact if you click the link right there in front of you should be a pic of the box with the original colour

As you can see it's a triangular one this time

The finial from a different angle just because I can :)

Angel progress

I forgot to add my progress last weekend once again :( and I only worked on her on Saturday because on Sunday I was on the train to Northampton so that Lucy wasn't on her own for her first motorway drive on Monday.

And here she is after this last weekend.
I was getting a little fed up of blue so did a little bit of purple for a change

A new start

After finishing the Lizzie Kate boxers I made a start on the Linen and Threads Mystery SAL.
This has been popping up on my facebook feed for a while now and over the last few weeks it's been nagging away at me so I had a root around my stash to see if I had a piece of fabric big enough and found one in the end :)

I'm stitching it on 40 count sand Newcastle linen using good old DMC in B5200 and whatever other colour speaks to me when I feel like adding some colour

This is a mere 5ish hours of stitching over 2 days last week and I can already say that I'm loving it

Lizzie Kate finish

Middle of last week I finished off Ice Cream from Lizzie Kate's Sweet Tooth Boxers Jr

Which means I finished the set off :)

I used good old DMC for it and changed a few of the colours as I went because I wasn't happy with the suggested ones for the GAST used in the original.
It's now safely tucked away in the drawer until I have the energy & ££ to sort out framing it for my kitchen

A finish and some progress

I've been working on Lizzie Kate's Sweet Treats boxers the last couple of weeks and have now completed the 3rd one in the set ~ Candy

Ice Cream is well underway as you can see so with any luck I'll get it finished this next week

Late TUSAL again!

Once again I'm late in posting my pics of rubbish :(  I really should write the dates in my stitching diary!

Orts have been added from Flower Urn, RR, Angel of the Morning, a model, Candy and Ice crean

And my beading orts, the pile of blue is from a project that was taken apart and the white is from the box I've been working on the last couple of weeks and the eggs

Weekend progress

As I said in my monthly goals My Ark has been put away for while and I pulled out another project to work on at weekends.

This is Angel of the Morning from Lavender and Lace.
I have no idea when I started but it was before 2004 when I started to keep a record.  I do remember being so in love with her that I drove over the pennies to Wye Needlecraft in Bakewell (now sadly closed) on the day she arrived in the shop so I could get the chart and supplies for her.
She was started and then as happened so often back then a model arrived and once it was done something else was calling my name.
She went out on a UFO RR at one point and this is how she returned home to me and in turn how she looked on Saturday afternoon.

And here's how far I got with her

Small finish

One of the 5 projects I finished last month.
DMC mini kit called Flower Urn it's only about 3 1/2 inches square so not something you would expect to take days to do but it did for me, this was the project that got one x some days

But it counts towards my goal of stitching some of kits up this year (yes I'm trying to think positive here)

March progress & April goals

For March I said
Finish the model   Yes and another one arrived and was done and returned
Pick a new weekend project    Yes but for reason's I'm not going to go into it's been put aside and another picked
Stitch on the last RR   Yes and it's been sent home early as well
Start something new  Yes and I finished it
Work on hexie flowers   I think I managed to get a couple done early in the month but that was all
Sell some stash   Yes more things found new homes

For April I'd like to
Start my summer SAL project (and maybe the spring one as well)
Make good progress on my weekend project
Start & finish the last of the LK sweet tooth boxers
Stitch the NH April challenge
Hexie flowers as ever :)
Sell some stash (well there's a surprise goal)

I stitched for 78 hours 56 minutes in March not bad for a month that involved a major upheavel in my life that's going to take time to get over and meant that some days I literally put one x in something so I could say I stitched that day!! But I still managed to have 4 new starts and 5 finishes mostly in the first half  of March.  I'm slowly returning to my normal self and have made friends with my needle once more :)

Current PHD total = 26
