Kaleidoscope update

I'm so pleased with the amount I've got done this month and I'm a little sad that the month has come to an end I've had to put it down but I know if I didn't I wouldn't want to work on it during May.

The plan for May is to fill in the colour.

Weekend projects

Friday night I worked on Mary Busby and got the border of the blue motif started and finished the pale yellow of the one right above it.

I carried on with Nova and did more than my one a day I ended up doing 8 of the partial row on Saturday and Sunday (the first two I did on Friday)

And I spent the rest of my stitching time over the weekend with Kaleidoscope and got almost all the black outlining done that you can see in the pic. This one will be back in a day or two because I'll be carrying on with it for a little while longer

And I spent a few hours on Sunday working on the next pair of socks for a fellow bowls player. When I started I had only done a couple of rows on the heel flap.

Updates

Over the weekend and on Monday for the weekly TW SAL I worked Legends and made some really good progress. He's one of those projects I couldn't work on for a while with my wrist and I really needed a break from it because every time I picked it up I had to frog.

And I've worked on Taz again this week and once again I did way more than the hour but I'm not complaining. At this rate he'll be done in a few weeks time.

And lastly Nova, I finished a row today.

St Petersburg Necklace

I did a class today at my local bead shop to learn how to do a St Petersburg necklace and was surprised by how quick and easy it is to do, I had the entire thing apart from finishing one end off done by the end of the class (as did a few others) and I've now got plans to make a matching bracelet and earrings

I remembered :)

I remembered to take a pic of the beading project from the book in this post that Sharon RAKed me with.
As soon as I saw this little teacup and saucer I knew I had to do it and after it nagged at me all morning I went (after darts practice) to get the beads I was missing and once I got back home that was it I had to do it.
Go hands up who wondering why there's no saucer?
It's done in flat circular peyote which is something I've done many times before but I just couldn't get it to work this time, I tried for over 3 hours and even tried using the instructions I'm used but it just flatly refused to play ball and work for me so it's saucerless for the time being.
This pic makes it's look quite big but it's only just over and inch tall

That black and white blurred strip in the background is the next one of my beading projects from the class I went to get finished so you will get to see it better never fear.

Back in Feb I took part in the Stitching Olympics over on the Wagon and won Silver in the Sprint (number of finishes) and on Saturday my prize arrived. It must of been on one of the last planes to land here before all the airports closed.

I've added some fabric to my stash clear out blog as well today

Mary Busby update

It's been several weeks since I last managed to work on Mary Busby between my wrist and having visitors but yesterday I picked her up and got 4 hours in on her.
I finished this motif and did the 2 small green letters.

Arbour Exchange sent

I was drawn to send to Edgar for the Arbour Day exchange and boy was I nervous about that! But as soon as I saw I had him I knew right away what I wanted to stitch and how I wanted to finish it and so my first ever mattress pin cushion finish came to life.
I'd alreay looked around for freebie's I could use and this one spoke volumes to me, it's Quaker Tree from The Workbasket and I used WDW Cypress on a piece of 32 count I found in my stash that was the perfect size.
For a first attempt I'm really pleased with how it turned out and will do more in the future.

I wanted to do something on the back so went with our initals and a couple of charms, one is hand shaped and says hand made the other is a little smiling sun that has stitched with love on the back

I have to say a big Thank You to Edgar for allowing me to use his pics because as you know I was an idiot with the camera card and can't use mine

TUSAL time

It's time to show my progress on the one thing I'm really good at, adding orts to my jar :)
This month we have orts from Kaleidoscope, Noel ornament, Believe, Dream, Mary Busby, Egyptian Sampler (UFO RR), Quaker Tree (Arbour day exchange), Quaker Alphabet, Silly Snowquakes and Taz along with lots of different colours of nymo.

Thanks for the suggestion of getting a USB cable for my camera. One came with the camera and I've done just that today for these pics but my camera while great with all the bells and whistles has a really c**p internal memory and will only hold 4 pics so I really do need to get a new card. What I will try when I get one is to try taking the pics of the card via the USB

Taz update

I sat down yesterday with Taz to do my hour on him for this week and put him down 4 1/2 hours later, I really got into a groove with him this week.
He last put in an apperance a couple of weeks ago in this post and I'm quite pleased with the progress made, if it carries on like this he'll be done in a few weeks time (you watch now I've said that I'll end up wishing the end of the hour comes quickly next week!)

Mel and I have had the tower out, the sides off and we've tried to take the card reader componant out to see if we could get in it to get the card out but no joy (and yes we did try tipping it upside down first, well Mel did). So that leaves me with 2 options, 1 is to take it to the puter shop in town and get them to do it and 2 is to buy a new card retake the beading project pic and talk nicely to Edgar to use his pics of the exchange. I'm thinking option 2 is the way to go

Feel free to laugh

I have just somehow managed to put the card from my camera in the wrong slot on the puter and it's gone poof. So the pics of the beading project and the pics of the Arbout Day exchange I sent are going to have to wait until at least tomorrow when I can get Mel to man handle the tower for me (it's too heavy for me right now, my wrist although much better can't handle weight)

Happy Dance's and a surprise

I've spent my weekend working on a couple more Silly Snowquakes, 4 down 8 to go by the end of Nov.

NN Calypso

Dinky Dyes Fuchsia

This morning I had a wonderful surprise in the post off the very lovely Sharon/Daffycat she sent me a fantastic beading book packed with some gorgeous and interesting projects. One of those projects refused to stop bugging me this afternoon so after darts practice I went over to the bead shop and got the beads I was missing, came back home and made a start. Come back tomorrow to see the finished article.
I'm really loving this book and everytime I pick it up and look through I spot something else I'd like to do from it, one of them is the lamp shade on the front although I'm wondering how it would look done in delica's or 15's as an amulet purse

Sharon is busy collecting names and address' so she can send out more RAK's when the mood/inspration hits her so go take a look at this post for details and you never know you could be next :)

Easter Stitching

Thank you for the comments on Monday's baking efforts and it's a family recipe to make them that I'm not allowed to share so lets just say it involves a basic cake mix, lots of bowls and teaspoons and very sore arms at the end of the day.

On to my Easter Weekend stitching.
With Caleb running around I wanted something that was easy to do so I went with CHS Quaker Alphabet Sampler. This is one of the 3 projects I started in one day on Jan 31 this year and I left it with 2 1/2 boxes done.

And today I pulled out another old PHD to work on in my bid to finish as many as poss this year, I went with this one because everything I've worked on lately has had dark or boring colours and I wanted something bright to work on for a change.
It's an old Designer Stitches kit called Taz's Shadow and at most it's 11 years old (there's a copyright date of 1999 on it) I would of started it for Mel and until today she had no idea I was working on it!

Easter Monday

Hope everyone has had a nice Easter.

I've spent today baking cakes with my Mum, both DD's and Caleb and here are the fruits of our labour, Rainbow cake. This month at WI it's the turn of the Darts team to provide the social time after the main meeting so Mum offered to make a Rainbow cake to have with the tea so we all got together to spend the day baking.

We made ALOT of rainbow cake!

And I just because I can here's Caleb taking a break from running around and calling everything a car.

March progrress & April Goals

For March I said

UFO RR Yes but not as much as I would of liked
Get an ornament done Yes, I finished one that's been hanging around for 5 years
Get a SOLAK square done I did 2
Make good progress on a WIP Not really

And a late entry was to do a square a day on Nova. I managed 7 before my wrist started and was a little ahead of target.

For April I'd like to

UFO RR
Get an ornament done
Make good progress on a WIP
Hopefully go back to a square a day on Nova

I was somewhat surprsied when I got the calculator out to add my hours up and found that I'd stitched for 110 hours 40 minutes!! But if you sit and think about it I spent 3 weeks unable to do anything that needed 2 hands so I didn't really have anything else to do beside stitch even if it was one handed and slow.
I had 5 new starts and 4 finishes 3 of which were new starts

Current PHD total 41 (was 42 until just before I came online)
