Penguins finish

Over the last couple of months this has been my travel project and yesterday I put the last stitches in.

It’s from Brittercup Designs and it’s a Christmas gift for Teejay who adores penguins 

Painted box

I've had Teejay with me for the last week and one of the things we've been doing is painting a box to put his Mum's birthday present in off me (that's a post another day).

Teejay helped to decide on the box and picked the wooden hearts as well.

He's also decided on what colour went where and each day we've done a side of it.

From the front, the 3 hearts on the front are painted in copper but it doesn't show up very well

The bottom, it was Teejay's idea to put his hand print on there and he giggled the entire time I painted his hand because it tickled :)

Feburary Gifted Gorgeousness

Gifted Gorgeousness  is the brain child of Jo the idea is that we use those things in our stash that have been gifted to us over the years so they actually get to see the light of day and receive some love, it might be a chart, a skein of thread, a piece of fabric or even some of the trimmings.

This year I decided that I'd try and keep up with the monthly challenge over on Needlecraft Heaven

January's challenge was this freebie although it has 2016 on it was easy enough to change to 2017.

I used a couple of Needle Necessities from my stash and a piece of silver lurex linda (that's not made any more sadly) the purple is in the backgound is my backing fabric.

How does it qualify for GG I hear you ask, well first off it's a freebie so a gift from the designer and second I sent it to Teejay who loves penguins as a surprise gift and he was as excited to get some post as he was to get the ornament :) lastly my fella gifted me with a scrap pack of fabric and I used a piece of it for the back of the ornament

I've added another house this week :)  the end is in sight now

Lucy has just sent me this pic of Teejay with the flower I sent him a couple of days ago.

Whenever they visit I make him a flower but last time it didn't get finished before he left :( so rather than wait until Christmas I sent it to him. 

New weekend project

With finishing the plums I needed a new weekend project once more so it was put to the vote with Fella, Lucy and Teejay and St Basil's won.

So here we go looking exactly the same as it did in August 2008 when I last worked on it!

And my very small amount of progress for the weekend

The main reason I didn't get much done was Teejay :)

He was up with his mum for a few days last week :)

Thursday he saw me working on a hexie flower and asked for one, he picked his own fabric and pestered me until it was made :)

He loved it and showed to everyone 

More penguins

Another quick update on them taken this morning.

These 2 guys are ready to back stitch now and then I just have to finish the one above them

Penguins update

Just a quick update this evening on Teejay's penguin stocking.

I have 2 complete penguins left to do and the one on the right to finish off and I've already made a start on them 

Stitching updates

I never got round to posting an update from last weekend on Toy Gatherer so here it is.

There won't be one this next week because I've decided to take the weekend off from it so that I can finish Teejay's stocking before he arrives on Thursday.  My stitching time will be a lot less when he gets here and I won't be able to work on it in the day while he's about.

Penguins progress

Now that December is here I'm spending all my stitching time on weekdays working on Teejay's stocking and this week I finished off the top 3 penguins, got the band done along with his name and made a start on the next 5 but one of them was just to finish the thread off

The plan for next week is to finish those 4 and hopefully make a start on the last 6

A bit of useless info for those in the UK.

The outside bit of the Iceland Christmas ad was filmed in my local store in August.  It very odd to go into town on a Wednesday afternoon and see Christmas trees everywhere!

Penguins progress

Last week I worked on Teejay's stocking and got 3 more penguins almost done and had I not been feeling off one evening I would of had them finished :(

I'll be back on them full time next week so I can get it finished for Christmas

Skating Penguins progress

Last week I worked on Teejay's stocking.

I was hoping to get these 3 done and start on the next row but it wasn't to be with finishing Mel's Rose on Monday and WI on Wednesday evening I didn't quite make it :(

Penguins finish

Friday evening I finished the penguins for Teejay's birthday and he loved it :)

Lucy has taken them home now and will find a suitable frame.

I changed the fabric to the blue, the kit came with a linen which I don't like at the best of times and it looks so much better on the blue.

I also stitched it in full X, the kit called for it to be done in half stitch and I just didn't like the way it looked but it did mean I had to use some of my own thread to complete it.

On Saturday the family went off to Krampus and as has become normal for me I gave my parents their ornament for this year but I also gave Lucy her's and Teejay's was completed this morning before I took them home.

I'm late with these this week but I have a good reason......

I'm really pleased with how much I got done on Legends over the weekend, fingers crossed I do as well this weekend.

3 Sidney's all in a row

Last month at one of the beading groups I was handed a box and asked if I could finish off/ do from scratch a few projects by the same member that I did the Santa and Angel for last year. They had been sat in the box for 2 years waiting to be finished and she thought it was time they were.

This is Sidney from Oak Tree Crafts  out of the 3 I've done 2 from scratch and just finished off the other one, he was almost complete and just needed a little work on his hat and his mittens.

And one of them held up on his own so you can see him a little better.

I had the most fantastic surprise earlier this evening when Lucy and Teejay appeared on my doorstep.

It's my Birthday on Thursday and they came up to surprise me for it and they certainly did that I was speechless

I'm slowly getting caught up on things I would of posted had I had internet, only a few to go :)

Teejay came to stay over Christmas :)

This was Christmas morning, his mum was stood behind me clicking her fingers to get him to look at the camera which is why he looks a little puzzled

Remember these? They started to hatch last May and the first one that did is now fully grown and doing well however the second one to hatch is still very small (would be classed as he runt) and was nicknamed Baby.

When Mel moved out and all her lizards went with her I said I'd take Baby once I'd saved up for the viv etc.

Christmas Eve arrived and so did Mel, Dan and her Dad with a viv for me.

Baby was a present off Mel and the Viv was off her Dad!

Still too small to sex so for now the name of Baby stays

A finish & Teejay

A couple of days ago I finished my ornament for August apart from adding a hanger for it.

Yesterday Lucy moved house so I went down with DBF to help her and of course I had to take pics :)

Teejay my second Grandson made his entrance into the world at 6.15am today weighting a healthy 8lbs 3oz.
