Scossor Fob Exchange part 1

This morning the postman brought me this gorgeous fob from Chris for the Scissor Fob exchange on Exchange Heaven. Chris wrote that she had a peek at my blog and saw that I liked sunflowers so she stitched me one :)

The back has a couple of busy little bees on it and Chris also included the scissors and a pack of Sunflower seeds :)

Thank you so much Chris it's perfect

Birthday Giveaway

A few days ago I told you about the stash I was given and I mentioned that I would tell you about the other thing I was given, well this is it. A fully kitted up Lavender & Lace Morning Song.

It's not to my taste at all so in celebration of my birthday this coming Saturday I'm giving it away to one of you. I will point out that from the looks of it whoever handed it in had started it then changed their mind and unpicked the tiny bit they had done but I had to look hard to spot the area that had been frogged, it was the single strands on the organiser that gave it away in the first place.

You have until Midnight (GMT) Saturday 16 May to leave your name on this post only and I will get Mel to draw a name on Sunday

Good Luck

Thundersprint

I was feeling better this morning so I decided that I would go to Thundersprint and even though it's been going since 1997 this is the first year I've made the effort and I'm sorry I waited so long!

I got into town just in time to see the cavalcade but I wasn't in a good place for pics :( the building in the background is the Council Offices and right down at the back on the right is the bull Ring

After the cavalcade (somewhere in the region of 150 bikes roaring past you) I wandered up to the paddocks (aka a car park at the other end of town)

I was lucky enough to get close to James Toseland

Then I went over to watch the speed trials timing it just right so I got there as the Spitfire flew overhead. I happened to stand right next to an old friend without noticing her until she said Hi, we've not seen each other for years!

I know you can't really tell what this pics all about but it's JT on his time trail, he played to crowd and spun his bike round in a circle while still reving to leave a huge rubber circle on the track (AKA another car park). Unsurprisingly he came last but the crowd loved it

I had a really nice afternoon and will be attending again next year, if you get teh chance to go next year do and let me know. I'm also tempted to go and see if that circle is still there tomorrow!
Just in case your interested you can find out about my home town here

Mary Busby

It's that time of the week again when I share progress on Mary Busby. I had hoped to get the brown motif finished this week but instead I finished the pale yellow one that I had trouble seeing and it shows as well, I made a boo boo on it and by the time I discovered I was 3/4 done and decided to fudge it!

Last weekend when Mel was home she was sick and now I'm sick :( I've been feeling worse as the day has gone on and haven't touched my stitching this evening at all because it needed to much concentration so I've been working on a very old knitting WIP instead (a rare non- sock!).
I'm really hoping that I wake up in the morning and feel better because it's Thundersprint tomorrow and I've been looking forward to it all week although I'm not looking forward to being woken up at the crack of dawn by the motorbikes that will going flying down the road to get to the paddocks early (one of the drawbacks of living on one of the main routes into town)

Look what I was given

Boy do I know some generous people! Last night at WI I was given a bag with a couple of kits in and this was one of them. One of the other members has a good friend that works in a charity shop and recently a couple of kits were handed in, she passed those kits on to my fellow member so she could pass them on to me!!! I've long conveted this kit but given that it costs an arm and a leg I knew I would never be able to afford it so to be given it for nothing is just gobsmacking

Whoever handed it in has made a start but there's so little of it completed that I may just rip it out and start it over.

There was another design fully kitted up but more on that in a day or two

Colour Exchange part 2

I was late sending mine out and it arrived yesterday but I only found out late last night so here's what I sent to Amanda

Winter Wonderland Biscornu
Cat's Whiskers & Dinky Dyes
NN 153

The bowls went well today and although we got knocked out we did make it to round 3 and won out first match.
This evening went well also but I'm really glad it's over and done with now. I've run off with Mum's camera card so take some pics off it (she had to act as photographer for me for the scrapbook) but my puter is refusing to read it tonight so I'll try again in the morning and hope it's ina better mood :)

April finishes

I lost my blogging mojo a little during April so I never posted the finishes I had so I'm putting that right now.

The first two were started over Easter Weekend while away at DD's wedding and in the case of the Lily it was finished there as well. Both are for SOLAK

The tractor took alot longer than it should of because I was in the middle of stitching it when I borrowed Mel's Twilight books, which led to reading 3 books in 2 days and my current obssession with all things Twilight! (as I write I'm really glad that I live next door to a shop that's closed because Supermassive Black Hole from the movie has just started on Media player and I just *have* to turn the volume up and boogie!!)

Lastly some cats for the group project of a wallhanging that I'm involved with (you may have seen it mentioned on a few other UK blogs). This is my first square for it and I have some Donkeys half done that should be done in the next day or two.

Life is quiet round here this week again as Mel is still staying in college which means I get to act like a teenager with loud music and dancing round the living room (ok I admit that Mel being here doesn't really stop me doing that anyway, LOL).
Tomorrow evening is WI and I have to stand up in front with the rest of the choir and sings Off to the Races and Ascot Gavotte (My Fair Lady in case your wondering).

Mary Busby update

I got around 4 hours in on Friday evening and did all of the light brown circle

I've not got quite as much to do this week so I should get more time in on MB. I'm planning on finishing that light brown motif and getting at least one length in on the very pale lemon one

Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza

Mel, Sheena and I went off to Llandudno for the Extravaganza today (you can last year's report here ) and the day started off the same with a ride on the Ashley's Gallopers and the Chair-a-planes but not pics because they look the same as they did last year and I will be seeing them again at some point in the year.

At noon every day a procession starts at the station, works it way around the town and finishes in the centre. We missed most of it but we did see these guys

This guy so so close I could of touched him if I wasn't taking a pic and he did threaten to exterminate me :)

I couldn't not take a pic of the Chinese Dragon now could I?

We headed over to the pier and on the prom at the end of the pier was Chitty!

Batala was there again and I managed to catch them playing twice but I was back in the crowd so no pics this time.
All in all we had a really good day and I did take more pics but most of them are pretty much the same as last year and given the crowds there today you really won't think there's a credit crunch going on and if anything I would say it was more crowed than last year but we did go on a different day.

April wasn't too bad a month for me really considering that I discovered the Twilight books and DVD (it's all Mel's fault) and currently have a little bit of an obbession going with the movie but I get like that at times and it will wear off soon.

I stitched for a total of 73 hours 49 mins, had 4 starts and 3 finishes (that I've yet to share)

Current WIP total = 46
